The first Sunset Run which led to #sunsetrunner happened in Fernando Air Base, Lipa City. Since then, we were able to collect some of the most amazing sunsets of Batangas from one location.
At first we didn’t know it was ok to run inside a military base. But as long as you follow all the rules of the base and try not to wreck anything, our soldier friends are actually happy to see civilians enjoy a run inside the base, particularly around the grandstand area where they do drills and the formal parade.
How to get there
Fernando Air Base is very near the Lipa exit of Star Tollway (CALABARZON), going to Batangas City along the National Highway. You can get there via bus from Lipa City going south (Batangas City, Mataasnakahoy, San Jose, Cuenca, Lemery), as well as buses traversing the National Highway. Leave your ID at the gate. If you have a car, tell the guards at the gate that you are there to run around the grandstand, while also leaving your ID.
The best parking would be in front of Malipunyo Hall and the Badminton Court (behind the church). That’s where you will usually see us.
So what are you waiting for?
